Kimberly Welter
Kimberly Welter is a techie virtuoso, website keeper-goddess, helper bee, and all-around cheerleader for Air Force Academy women with a story to tell. Kimberly’s day jobs include corporate pilot, mom, and retired Air Force Officer.

After watching Top Gun and living near Williams Air Force Base in her early teens, Kimberly knew she wanted to join the military and fly airplanes. Upon completion of her undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Kimberly attended pilot training in Texas graduating at the top of her class. Over her 24-year Air Force career, Kimberly flew multiple aircraft, both cargo and passenger jets, including Air Force Two. She became well-versed in the planning and travel of national leaders and dignitaries, and she spent three years running flight operations for the White House Military Office. She is a decorated combat pilot and has commanded at several levels.
After retiring from the Air Force, Kimberly wanted to spend more time as a mom and chose to continue flying as her second career – like a normal mom, only cooler. Her days are split between flying around the United States and corralling her three children with their endless energy and activities while also keeping her Academy-grad husband and two cats fed and watered. Her weekends are spent on the sidelines of various sports fields, a camera in her hands, as she pursues her passions of both her kids and photography. She now calls Northern Virginia home and continues to hope for snow each winter.
